For
Purser · Captain · Joining crew
Plan the traveller, transfer and handover as one movement. A live flight, a complete driver brief and enough overlap protect the change when bags or schedules move.

- The handover and onward plan
Before the crew member flies
Check the passport, visa position, onward or return travel, accommodation evidence and the current Sint Maarten entry-form procedure. Seafarer documents do not automatically settle immigration status.
Move passports and other personal records through the yacht's agreed private channel, not a public form or open group chat.
For a departing crew member, SXM currently recommends arriving at least three hours before departure during high season and busy periods. Airline instructions take priority. Wheelchair assistance should be requested through the airline before travel rather than improvised at the terminal.
From SXM to the yacht
Use the live flight rather than the scheduled arrival. The transfer brief should contain the passenger's name and mobile number, flight, bag count, meeting point, yacht, marina and a shore contact.
SXM does not offer airside international transit. A connecting passenger may need to clear Immigration and Customs, collect luggage and check in again before the next flight.
Protect the handover
A same-day arrival and departure can work on paper and still leave no margin for a delayed bag, late flight or tired crew member. Where continuity matters, build in an overlap or a nearby room.
If the incoming flight changes, update the driver, accommodation and onboard handover together.
Working list
Crew-change brief
- Passport nationality and validity checked
- Visa and current entry-form position checked
- Flight number and live status
- Crew member's mobile number
- Bag count and unusual luggage
- Yacht, marina and meeting point
- Handover window and overnight fallback
Questions that change the plan
Settle these before anyone moves.
Does every joining crew member need the Sint Maarten entry form?
Requirements and implementation can change. Check the official entry site and airport guidance for that traveller before departure rather than relying on an old crew-change file.
How early should departing crew reach SXM?
SXM currently recommends at least three hours for international flights and two hours for regional flights. The airline's instructions and current airport conditions take priority.
What should crew do if a bag does not arrive?
Report it immediately at the airline's baggage desk in Arrivals and keep the reference number. SXM does not currently provide baggage storage.
Can joining crew go straight from the airport to the yacht?
Only after the traveller has completed the required airport formalities and the pickup and marina access have been confirmed.
